4 Ingredients No Boiling One Dish Creamy Pasta 50 Minutes

No-Boil Baked Pasta 🍝 — 4 Ingredients, One Dish, Zero Effort

↓ Jump to Recipe

No boiling. No draining. No standing over a stove. Just add everything to one dish, cover it, and bake. The pasta cooks IN the milk and turns it into a creamy sauce — with a golden mozzarella crust on top.

Why did nobody tell us about this sooner? This pasta bake is genuinely one of the most satisfying “why didn’t I think of that” recipes out there. No boiling water. No draining. No extra pots.

The magic happens in the oven — dry penne goes straight into the dish with milk, salt and pepper. As it bakes, the pasta absorbs the milk and releases starch, turning everything into a silky, creamy sauce. Then the mozzarella on top bubbles and turns golden. Four ingredients. One dish. Pure comfort.

It’s the kind of weeknight dinner that feels like a cheat code. You’ll make it once and never go back to boiling pasta the old way.

  • 🧻 Aluminium foil (to cover while baking)
  • 🧀 Cheese grater (if using block mozzarella)
Ingredients
Scale:
      Instructions
      1. 1
Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F). Lightly grease your baking dish with a little butter or oil.
      2. 2
Add dry pasta to the dish. Pour in 2 cups of whole milk, then add extra milk until the pasta is fully submerged. Season with ½ tsp salt and ¼ tsp black pepper. Give it a quick stir.
      3. 3
Stir in 1 cup of shredded mozzarella directly into the milk and pasta mixture. This melts into the sauce as it bakes.
      4. 4
Cover tightly with foil and bake for 30 minutes. The pasta will absorb the milk and start to get creamy.
      5. 5
Remove foil, add remaining 1 cup mozzarella evenly on top. Return to oven uncovered for 12–15 more minutes, until the cheese is golden and bubbly. 🧀
      6. 6
Rest for 5 minutes before serving. The sauce will thicken slightly as it cools. Serve straight from the dish — no extra washing up needed! 🎉
      Notes
      • 🥛 Whole milk is key — it creates the creamiest sauce. Low-fat milk may result in a thinner consistency.
      • 🍝 Keep pasta fully submerged — add more milk if needed before covering. Exposed pasta will cook unevenly.
      • 🧀 Low-moisture mozzarella works best for the golden top. Fresh mozzarella adds too much water.
      • 🌿 Make it your own — add garlic powder, Italian seasoning, or a pinch of chili flakes to the milk mixture.
      • 🥩 Add protein — stir in cooked chicken, crispy bacon, or canned tuna before the final bake.
      • 📦 Storage — refrigerate covered for up to 3 days. Reheat with a splash of milk to loosen the sauce.
      • 🌱 Make it vegetarian-friendly — add spinach, cherry tomatoes, or roasted vegetables for extra nutrition.
